The simplest way to get more visitors to return is to be outright with your purpose and how you can help them, along with sharing any information your website may collect. Once your clients are sure and trust you, they will visit you more frequently.
Google recently posted an article about developing your trust, “Want to earn user trust and drive marketing results? Start with these steps”. Their piece goes through the importance of focusing on the information that some websites collect with each visitor. It especially states, “The General Data Protection Regulation, also known as GDPR, has significantly impacted how the personal data of European users can be collected and used. Regulation is also heating up in the U.S., with legislation being considered at both the national and state levels, and the passage of a new privacy law in California.” Their biggest support is to let us know that can collect certain information, but we must share what data we collect from our visitors, as well as how we get that info from them.
Another great read is from Forbes, “14 Agency Pros Share Their Best Practices For Website Management”. This piece has lots of bits to review on your site to ensure that it is set up properly to improve customer visits through trust, as well as methods to think of your website as part of its brand.
Many of their ideas are simple, like adding to your blog. But some can be large, such as start to develop a new site, even when one just launched. While I believe many large companies have a department that focuses on websites, many smaller companies may not have time to complete all the ideas on their “To-Do” list.
